LED Tutorial- How to Re-Seal your waterproof LED strip?

As the holidays approach, the majority people bought or plan to buy LED strip light for various occasion decorations to put up a colorful flare. In the following content, we are going to discuss how to re-seal the connector to make sure the security use for LED strip light exterior application. Generally, in order to create unique and astounding displays, the LED strip light will be cut into segments or need to be connected with other segments. So it is important to know how to waterproof the connector area otherwise it may cause serious short-circuiting if we ignore it. 

A list of tools need to prepare:

  • Pair of scissors
  • A waterproof LED strip 
  • A heat gun or lighter 
  • Some Heat-shrink tubes
  • Silicone glue

 After cutting and soldering the original waterproof LED strip lights means they’re no long IP65, now we are going to bring them back with following steps:

  • Cut the light strip with the scissors into segments. Make sure the cut is happening on the cutting points where it marks on the LED strip.
  • Squeeze out the silicone glue on the figure and push it at to the cut ends of the cutting LED strip segments to create a barrier for double waterproof 
  • Cut off a proper length of the heat-shrink tube and make sure the heat-shrink tubes cover around the connector area and heating the heat shrink tube with the heat gun.
  • Double-check to ensure the heat-shrink tube fully melt at the connector area.

 

 

End Cap sealing

We can also finish the end cap sealing following the above steps. Squeeze a dab of silicone glue into the end cap, then plug in the LED strip into it. After that cover around it with the heat-shrink tube. Finally, melt the tube with a heat gun until the tap overlapped and can’t find any lines.
